Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions are designed to make sure everything runs smoothly and that your cat receives the best possible care while you are away. By booking with Wendy's Cat Sitting Service, you agree to the following terms.

Our Service

Getting Started

Before confirming any booking, we will arrange a home visit to meet you and your cat or cats. This helps us understand their routine, needs, personality and home environment, and allows us to make sure we are the right fit for their care.

Your Cat's Wellbeing

Your cat's comfort, safety and happiness are our top priorities. All care is provided in line with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, including appropriate feeding, fresh water, a clean environment, and attention to their health and wellbeing.

What We Do

During each visit, we will provide food and fresh water, clean litter trays, and spend quality time with your cat where appropriate. We are also happy to carry out small household tasks agreed in advance, such as bringing in post, putting bins out, opening or closing curtains, or watering a small number of plants. We will always respect your home and aim to leave it as we found it.

Visit Frequency

We visit at least once every 24 hours, so your cat is not left for longer than that. Kittens aged between 6 and 12 months require 2 visits per day, as younger cats need more regular care. We do not accept bookings for kittens younger than 6 months old, as very young kittens require more constant supervision and care.

Visit Times

Visit times are approximate unless specifically agreed in advance. We will always aim to visit within the agreed part of the day, but exact times may vary due to travel, weather, emergencies, illness, or other bookings.

Food, Litter and Supplies

Please provide enough food, litter and other supplies for the full duration of your booking. If supplies run out during your booking, we may purchase reasonable replacements where possible, and the cost will be added to your invoice.

Important Responsibilities

Information We Need

Before your booking starts, please provide up-to-date care instructions, feeding details, vet details, medication instructions if applicable, your contact details while away, and an emergency contact. Please also let us know about any behavioural issues, medical conditions, allergies, hiding places, escape risks, or anything else that may affect your cat's care.

Emergency Contact

You must provide an emergency contact before your booking starts. This person should be contactable while you are away and, ideally, have access to your home. If we are unable to reach you in an emergency, we may contact your emergency contact for assistance.

Damage Caused by Pets

While we take every care, we cannot be held responsible for damage caused by your cat to your home, furniture, belongings, or other property.

Time Between Visits

We are not responsible for incidents that occur between scheduled visits when your cat is alone.

Home Security

Please make sure your home is secure before you leave, with any necessary precautions in place. This includes checking doors, windows, alarms, locks, cat flaps and any areas your cat may access.

Outdoor Cats

If your cat has outdoor access, including through a cat flap, this remains at your discretion. We cannot accept responsibility for anything that happens while your cat is outside, including injury, getting lost, theft, fights with other animals, or failure to return home.

Crating and Restricted Spaces

We do not accept bookings where cats are kept in crates, as this is not safe or appropriate for their wellbeing. We also do not accept bookings where cats are kept in a small or unsuitable space without enough room for exercise, movement, rest and normal behaviour.

Health and Safety

Routine Care

All cats should be up to date with vaccinations, flea treatments recommended by a vet, and worming.

Microchipping

In line with current regulations in England, cats over 20 weeks old must be microchipped and registered. It is the owner's responsibility to make sure the microchip details are accurate and up to date. We may ask for proof of microchipping if needed.

Fleas

To protect all pets and homes we visit, we cannot provide services where there is a known flea infestation. If a flea infestation is discovered during a booking, we may need to stop visits and contact you to arrange alternative care. Any additional costs will be the client's responsibility.

Older Cats and Medical Needs

For cats aged 16 or over, or cats with known medical conditions, we may ask for recent vet information or confirmation that they are fit to be left with visiting care.

Medication

We can administer routine medication where this has been agreed in advance and where your cat is comfortable with this. We cannot administer injections or complex medical treatment unless specifically agreed beforehand. Please provide clear written instructions for any medication, including dosage, timing and storage requirements.

If Your Cat Becomes Unwell

If we notice any signs of illness, injury or distress, we will contact you as soon as possible. If urgent care is needed and we cannot reach you in time, you authorise us to seek veterinary treatment in your cat's best interests. You remain responsible for all veterinary fees, treatment costs, transport costs and any related charges.

Emergency Vet Visits

If we need to take your cat to the vet urgently, an emergency transport and attendance fee may apply, in addition to any veterinary costs.

If Your Cat Goes Missing

If your cat goes missing, we will take reasonable steps to help, including continuing scheduled visits, contacting you, notifying your vet where appropriate, and sharing information you have provided, such as photos or microchip details. We cannot guarantee the safe return of any cat, especially cats with outdoor access.

Behaviour and Handling

If your cat becomes aggressive, extremely distressed, frightened, or unsafe to handle, we may adapt the visit to prioritise safety and welfare. This may mean providing food, water and litter care without direct handling or interaction.

Cleaning Cat-Related Mess

We will clean up reasonable cat-related mess during visits, such as litter accidents, hairballs or food spills. We cannot provide deep cleaning, carpet cleaning, specialist cleaning, or cleaning of damage caused between visits.

Your Information and Privacy

Privacy

We take your privacy seriously. Your personal details are used only to provide and improve our services and are stored securely. We never share your information without your consent unless required by law or in an emergency, for example with a vet. You may request access to, update, or remove your personal data at any time.

Keys and Access

Key Holding

We securely retain keys between bookings so we can respond quickly in case of delays, changes or emergencies.

Returning Keys

If you would prefer your keys to be returned, collection and drop-off can be arranged around each booking.

Key Security

Keys are stored securely and are not labelled with your address. In the unlikely event that there is a problem involving your key, we will let you know as soon as possible and take reasonable steps to resolve it.

Access Issues

If we have difficulty accessing your home, for example because of a broken key, faulty lock, alarm issue, or inaccessible entrance, we will take reasonable steps to resolve the issue. Any related costs, including locksmith fees or additional visit time, will be the client's responsibility. We will always try to contact you first where possible.

Bookings and Communication

Availability

We always do our best to accommodate bookings, but availability is not guaranteed. If we are unable to help, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Keeping Details Up to Date

Please make sure all contact details, care instructions, vet information and emergency contact details are current before you go away. Where an online portal is used, please ensure the information on the portal is accurate and up to date.

Confirmation

Bookings are confirmed once we have accepted the booking and issued your invoice.

Returning Home

When you return home, please send us a quick message to let us know you are back safely. If we do not hear from you within 24 hours of our final scheduled visit, we may continue visits until we can confirm your return. Any additional visits will be charged.

Shared Access

To ensure consistency and safety, we do not share pet care duties with friends, neighbours, family members, or other third parties during a booking, apart from cleaners where agreed. We cannot take responsibility for anything that happens due to third-party access to your home.

Unexpected Situations

In rare cases such as severe weather, illness, transport disruption, accidents, emergencies or other unforeseen events, we will always do our best to care for your cat. If we are unable to attend, we will contact you and/or your emergency contact and take reasonable steps to arrange alternative care.

Photos and Updates

We love sharing updates while you are away and may take photos or videos of your cat to send to you. We will only use photos or videos on social media with your consent. We will never include your address, personal details, or identifying information about your home.

Payments and Cancellations

Payment

All bookings must be paid in advance by bank transfer.

Cancellations

Cancellations made within 7 days of the booking start date will be charged in full, or may be credited at our discretion.

Changes and Early Returns

Changes to bookings may affect pricing and are subject to availability. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for early returns, as your booking slot has been reserved.

Additional Costs

Any additional costs incurred during your booking, including emergency vet visits, replacement supplies, locksmith fees, parking, tolls or additional visits, will be added to your invoice where applicable.
